#cocktailhour - Gin meets Grapefruit

sweets | 08/06/2018

Could there be any better way of rounding off a day on holiday than sitting on the terrace, a refreshing drink in your hand, and watching the sun as it slowly sets.

The mountain panorama from our sun terrace is unbeatable. But today we want to capture a little bit of your summer holiday. To help you take the summer feeling back home with you, we have put together a recipe for a refreshing summer cocktail.

To make it, take...

  • 200 ml tonic water
  • 100 ml freshly pressed grapefruit juice
  • Grapefruit cut into quarters
  • Sliced cucumber
  • 100 ml gin
  • Sprig of rosemary
  • Crushed ice

How to...

Put the grapefruit pieces into a glass and carefully press a mortar onto them, squeezing out the juice, but more importantly the oils of the fruit. After that, fill the glass half full with crushed ice or normal ice cubes before adding the gin and carefully mixing.

First, we add the tonic water and a little grapefruit juice and decorate our gin tonic traditionally with a slice of cucumber. Our tip: a sprig of rosemary underlines the wonderful herbal note of the gin, either use a sprig or sprinkle a few leaves over it.

Did you know...?

... that gin, contains other natural substances aside from juniper berries: coriander, sage, rosemary? These stimulate the function of the kidneys and toxins are broken down more quickly.
The flavonoids in the juniper berries have a positive effect on the circulatory system and thereby strengthen the immune system.

Good reasons why you should order gin sometimes rather than wine etc (in moderation of course).

Conjure up a little bit of summer at home and enjoy a refreshing cocktail!
