Arlberg off piste and heli-skiing

Head out into your powder snow adventure

As well as the 300 km of perfectly prepared pistes in the Arlberg region, there are an additional 200 km of natural slopes with glistening powder snow, beaming sunshine, and majestic mountain peaks. The beauty of this area is famous far beyond Austria’s borders. The gates of this skiing paradise open at the beginning of December.

Heli-skiing in the Arlberg region

Powder

It is the dream of many winter sports people. Heli-skiing has been at the top of the wish list for many, at least once you have seen the spectacular pictures and the slopes with not a single person in sight. At Arlberg your dream can be fulfilled.

This is the only ski area in Austria where heli-skiing is possible. The Wucher helicopter company runs trips offering skiing that couldn’t get any more spectacular, remote, and overwhelming.

The Mehlsack and Schneetäli

Your flight begins from the Kriegerhorn in the Lech ski area, or from the Flexenpass in Zürs. An experienced mountain guide and 3 passengers embark on the helicopter flight up to the Mehlsack (2.652 m) or the Schneetäli (2.450 m). The flight over the ski area is an experience in itself with the humming of the rotors as the craft gradually lifts off and the fabulous scenery underneath you diminishes until you reach the peak of the mountain. Once there, the views are sure to take your breath away again.

Once your equipment has been unloaded, the helicopter flies off again. Your group is alone in the mountains. You put on your skis and soon head off down the fall line. What then follows is the high point of your trip: the descent on a deep powder slope. Become at one with the mountain as clouds of snow are thrown up around you. A feeling of being transported into the valley on cotton wool. The ride of your life.
